Day 2 Into the Wild (Part II)

Good morning, all!

This is Anastasia, and I believe it’s completely safe to say that yesterday was absolutely incredible. We started off the day at the breakfast buffet, where one of the kindest people I’ve met here served some of us coffee with a cream heart, which they attested to be absolutely delicious.

After feasting on our meals, we met in the lobby and rode over in the minibus to Hout Bay, and some awesome seals also greeted us upon our arrival. After browsing a few shops, we drove over to Chapman’s Peak Drive and took a few photos. We then drove over to Cape Point and hiked up to the lighthouse, which hurt a ton after our hike to Lion’s Head yesterday, but the view and the wind at the top was beyond worth it. Once we reached the bottom of the hike, we saw some antelope and then drove over to Cape of Good Hope to take a group photo; afterwards, we drove over to get lunch in Simon’s Town where I had some delicious seafood pasta.

Afterwards, we drove to the beautiful Boulders Beach, and along with beautiful views of the ocean, we were accompanied by the cutest penguins. We witnessed a penguin-to-penguin battle (I’m assuming it was about food or something else concerning a penguin’s happiness and safety), and observed as the penguins swam, waddled, and lounged. I personally favored the gray baby penguins above all others, and I know that’s not an unpopular opinion amongst my group. As we all sadly walked back and we realized to say goodbye to our feathered friends, I reflected on the beautiful sights I had seen that day and even bought myself a tiny penguin souvenir!

We drove home, playing a variety of games like Concentration and Wavelength, in addition to just chatting about what we had seen the past two days and what we were excited about for the next day. We arrived back to the hotel and after getting ready, strolled up to The Blue Café to eat dinner. We walked the hilly streets (aka San Francisco) home and knocked out in our hotel rooms.

Overall, yesterday was amazing, and I’m kind of sad it still hasn’t hit me we’re in Cape Town, South Africa yet. I hope I can actually process that sometime soon:) I’m so excited to pass the blog on to Miki and Sofia tonight!
